Compact Drive Solutions for Intralogistics Applications

10/21/2025

ebm-papst offers a range of compact drive solutions tailored to optimize intralogistics processes, catering to needs like rationalization, efficiency improvement, and cost reduction.

ArgoDrive: Benchmark Drive System for Free-Range Vehicles

A key offering is the ArgoDrive, a compact driving/steering system officially launched in 2021. It currently sets the benchmark for drives in free-range vehicles, providing a safe, tested, and adapted drive unit for manufacturers of automated guided vehicles (AGV) and autonomous mobile robots (AMR).

When combined with drive controllers from various manufacturers, the ArgoDrive forms a fully functional drive system. This system enables free-range mobility for driverless transport vehicles, minimizes the effort required for implementation, and allows for quick on-site deployment. It is also compatible with vehicle and safety control systems from different manufacturers.

Modular Drive System for High-Demand Shuttle Applications

ebm-papst also provides a continuously expanding modular drive system. This system includes established sizes like ECI 42 and ECI 63—both available with various integrated electronics and interfaces—as well as the newly added ECI 80 size.

The system’s brushless direct current (BLDC) drives operate on safety extra-low voltage and have a rated output of up to 750 watts. These drives are powerful yet compact, featuring a robust aluminum housing and meeting the IP54 degree of protection as a standard.

The modular setup further includes multiple planetary gears with different reduction ratios, plus encoder and brake modules. In intralogistics, ECI 80 drives—paired with durable Optimax planetary gears—are mainly used in shuttle applications, and also work for conveyor, storage, and sorting systems.
